COVID-19 update to services

As we find ourselves in unprecedented times with the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to reassure you that The Visiting Veterinarian will continue providing veterinary care for pets in their own home for as long as possible.

Firstly, many pet owners have expressed concerns regarding human to animal transmission of COVID-19. The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) has clearly stated that the current spread of COVID-19 is a result of human to human transmission.

There are new guidelines for veterinarians during this pandemic. As such I have introduced several changes to how I will provide veterinary services in a home settings. The changes are designed to minimise risk of infection with COVID-19 to clients and veterinary personnel.

In addition to practising social distancing (1.5 metres) and hand sanitising, I will be wearing a face mask and where possible pets will be examined and treated in an outdoor area.

There will be additional cleaning protocols including disinfecting any equipment used such as scales and stethoscopes after each patient.

If you have cold/flu symptoms, please advise at the time of booking to allow additional arrangements to be made to ensure your pet receives the care they need within a safe environment.
